The German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office of Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Arabia) has organized the first press conference of the world’s leading show for the chemical engineering and process industry “ACHEMA”, which will take place in Frankfurt from 15th to 19th of June 2015. Dr. Thomas Scheuring, Chief Executive Officer of ACHEMA Trade Fair, anticipates similar participant figures as for 2012 when around 3,800 exhibitors and 167,000 participants flocked onto the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. Saudi Arabia SME business opportunities are growing rapidly in many sectors and the petrochemical landscape is changing rapidly. Saudi Arabia is evolving from the traditional commodities exporter to a specialties producer. ACHEMA Trade Fair, which is officially represented in KSA by the German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office of Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Arabia), has been the world’s leading platform for the chemical engineering and the process industry for decades covering all aspects along the entire value chain. “ACHEMA, showcasing the latest innovation in all fields of process technology and chemical processing, could be of crucial importance as a partner platform for transfer of technology and know- how to KSA,” said Andreas Hergenroether, Delegate of the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs. For this reason the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs is planning to organize a delegation trip from Saudi Arabia to ACHEMA.

Mr. Ali Vezvaei, President of LINDE AG for the MENA Region, stressed the importance of innovative technologies in chemical processing for the development of petrochemical industries. LINDE is the world’s largest producer for industrial gases. For the first time ACHEMA is launching three focal themes which, being multidisciplinary trends, will involve a wide range of exhibition groups. ‘BiobasedWorld’ will present technologies and solutions relating to the use of sustainable resources and industrial biotechnology. With ‘Innovative Process Analytical Technology’ the organizers span the gamut from Laboratory and Analytical Techniques through to Automation. Finally, bridging the gap between zero liquid and low-emission production, ‘Industrial Water Management’ offers solutions for a wide variety of regional and technical requirements.

ACHEMA 2015 offers the chemical industry a platform that is internationally unique. Although German companies such as Linde andHenkelhave been very successful for many years, Hergenroether still sees huge potential for the future. After the press conference Dr. Scheuring met with Mr. Abdullah Saleh Al Haqbani, Secretary-General of the Saudi Petrochemical Manufacturers Committee as well as with Mr. Mutlaq H. Almorished, Executive Vice President, Corporate Finance of petrochemical giant SABIC.
