Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh goes green during Earth Hour

To start an annual tradition, the hotel, along with other landmarks in Riyadh, participated in Earth Hour, and in support of this global initiative, the hotel went dark on 19 March from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Beginning in 2007, Earth Hour is a worldwide annual event organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, to raise awareness about climate change.

Last year, 172 countries participated, with more than 1,200 landmarks and close to 40 UNESCO World Heritage Sites switched off for an hour. Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh also took part by shutting down all power and lights that were not essential to the comfort, safety, security and operations of its guests and associates.

As the hotel went dark during this special hour, Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh offered candlelit dinners in all their restaurants. The hotel also encouraged guests to participate in this meaningful cause by turning off or dimming the lights in their rooms.
