The Government of Japan has decided to extend 42 million USD grant aid to Yemen to help the Yemeni Government tackle appalling humanitarian crisis. Japan’s fresh contribution focuses on providing foodstuff, water, shelter, medicine, and health services to the people in need including the most vulnerable ones. Vital support to internally displaced persons and their host communities constitutes another important pillar of activities, including cash-for-work project in Aden – removal of debris. Children’s vaccination, nutrition, and schooling, which Japan always cares, are the third pillar of the support.
Eight UN agencies – WFP, UNICEF, WHO, UNHCR, UNDP, IOM, UNFPA, UNOCHA -, ICRC, and Japanese NGOs will implement projects in coordination with Yemeni partners.
Japan’s contribution to Yemen since 2012 amounts to 204 million USD in total.
