2nd Annual Power and Desalination Summit Opens In Riyadh, KSA

Dedicated two-day event puts spotlight on latest Power and Desalination Technologies, regulations and opportunities in the Saudi utilities sector.

2nd Annual Power and Desalination Summit, organised by Fleming Gulf Conferences, officially opened today at Mena Grand Khalida Hotel, Riyadh, as more than 80 participants gathered to listen to the opening keynote by Nasser Al Qahtani, ECRA – Vice Governor – Regulatory Affairs, Saad AlDosari Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Generation Projects Development Department Manager, Robert Flaechsig, The German Industry Association for Desalination (DME e.V.) Member of the Advisory Board during the two days of the summit.

The summit will redefine the outlook for Power and Desalination in the Saudi market and will feature key presentations from Tayeb Al Awadhi, Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL), Vice President Power & Desalination UAE, Andy Biffen, Executive Managing Director, Hidd Power Company, Kingdom of Bahrain, Zahir Khalid Suleiman Al-Suleimani, Public Authority for Electricity and Water, Oman Director General of Projects, Oman Water Society, Chairman Bader M Al-Saleem, Director, Energy & Interface, Ma’aden Aluminium Company, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and many more.

The summit will also feature an Exclusive Presentation on day 2 by Dr. Ir. Ing. Dick G. Klaren M.Sc., Founder, President & Chief Scientist KLAREN International BV on Multi-Stage Flash / Fluidised Bed Evaporator (MSF/FBE) revisited in Thermal Seawater Desalination.

Hosted by Fleming Gulf, more than 20 regional and international power and desalination experts will share presentations across the 2 day summit concluding with a panel discussion – “Renewable Energy Sources for Water Desalination and Power Generation in the Middle East”. The summit also features leading solutions providers that bring with them the latest in technology and know-how from the power and desalination industry. The exhibition at Mena Grand Khalida Hotel will witness product showcases from Sipos Aktorik, ModernWater, Lakos Separators and Filtrations Solutions, Nomac, Nalco, Torey Membrane, Mashail, Sondex, Abengoa.

During the summit, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy announced ‘The Emirates Energy Awards’ which recognises best practices in the fields of energy efficiency, alternative energy, sustainability and protection of the environment.
