Organized by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority “Shop Bahrain” Returns in its 5th Edition with an Impressive Line-up of Activities

The 5th edition of the Bahrain Shopping Festival – ‘Shop Bahrain’ – is set to be the biggest nationwide Festival with a unique line-up of events and entertainment, a fantastic shopping experience and numerous prizes.

The 30-day event, aimed at celebrating the Kingdom’s hospitality and tourism offering, will kick-off on January 1st and will run until February 2nd 2019. The announcement was made during a press conference attended by the organizers, strategic partners, along with media representatives and social media influencers.

The Festival, organized by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), is held in cooperation with partners from the public and private sector such as Tamkeen, VIVA, Gulf Air and A.A. Bin Hindi Group as strategic partners.

Prize partners include Gravity, Awal Gas, Hawar Beach Hotel, Kitchen for Life Company, the Ice Cream Shop and Rahim Holdings. this year’s edition will feature more than 73,000 prizes including 11 cars, electronics from A.A. The fourth edition successfully achieved over 145,000 transactions with the value of 19 million Bahraini Dinars and more than 137,150 local and regional shoppers registered on the online loyalty system.

The loyalty system enables shoppers to enter the raffle draw and get the opportunity to win valuable prizes. For every BD 10 spent, shoppers can redeem their points through the festival kiosks located across participating malls and hotels, or via the Shop Bahrain app. With every BD 50 spent, shoppers will be eligible to win instant prizes.  

It is worth mentioning that “Shop Bahrain” is a distinctive initiative with the objective of enriching the National Economy through activating the tourism and retail sectors. Last year’s fourth edition statistics indicate the vast success attained with 145,000 transactions in the value of 19 million Bahraini Dinars, and more than 137,150 of local and regional shoppers registered in the online loyalty system to collect points. The Festival has also successfully created more the 300 jobs since its inception and witnessed the allocation of 80,000 prizes, including 20 cars.

Under the management agreements, Coral Hotel will be converted to voco Al Khobar, the first voco in the kingdom, and Holiday Inn Al Khobar Ulaya, will undergo a major refurbishment to be converted from an independently run hotel to the first managed Holiday Inn in Al Khobar.

Both hotels are located in the centre of the Al Khobar, home to Saudi Arabia’s oil and petrochemical industry. In recent years, its large resident expatriate population has transformed the city into a commercial hub while its waterfront location attracts a large number of domestic tourism looking for the perfect vacation.

Scheduled to open in 2019, voco Al Khobar will offer guests the informality and charm of an individual hotel, with the quality and reassurance of a global and respected brand. Huawei opens its First Flagship Store in Saudi Arabia Run by highly skilled and trained Saudi males and females with a new retail sales model

Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia announced the inauguration of its first ever store in the Kingdom which opened at Riyadh Park Mall in the capital city Riyadh, and is the largest store in the Middle East and Africa region. The official opening was attended by His Excellency Deputy Governor of investments for the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority Mr. Sultan Mufti, His Excellency Mr. Li Huaxin, Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and C-level Executives from Huawei and members of the media.

His Excellency the Deputy Governor of investments for the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, Mr. Sultan Mofti praised HUAWEI’s commitment towards investing in the Kingdom and all they provide to local businesses and individuals: “HUAWEI is a great example to all foreign companies investing in the Kingdom. Novo Nordisk signs Local Manufacturing Agreement with Saudi Bio

Novo Nordisk, the world’s largest insulin manufacturer, has signed an agreement with Saudi Bio to start packaging of Novo Nordisk’s products for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and haemophilia in Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed in presence of key executives from Novo Nordisk, Saudi Bio, Salehiyah Medical the sole distributor of Novo Nordisk, the Danish Ambassador and top government officials.

The agreement includes packaging of a wide range of products for the treatment of diabetes and haemophilia.  The first batch of products is expected by the end of 2019.

“It is a dream coming true when we see insulin production localized in our country. This is in line with the government plans to support technology transfer. We are very thankful for all the support we get from all authorities involved,” explained Dr. Khaled Al Mousa, CEO Saudi Bio Company.

Diabetes is an emergency in slow motion. According to the International Diabetes Federation, in Saudi Arabia alone more than 3.8 million people live with diabetes today and this number is expected to increase by more than 6.5 million by 2045. With this agreement Novo Nordisk will strengthen its presence in the Kingdom and be able to support more people with diabetes to live better lives. The agreement will also help Saudi Arabia realise its Vision 2030 which focuses on localizing production and technology transfer.

FROM ROME TO RIYADH, PIRELLI COMPLETES GLOBAL PRESTIGIOUS PIT STOPS AT ITALIAN EMBASSIES Seven-stop tour concludes with the Ambassador of Italy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia receiving special ‘il-tricolore’ tyres

Pirelli, one of the symbols of Italian industrial excellence, has completed its special seven-star series of pit-stops at Italian embassies around the world with a visit to the Italian Embassy in Riyadh, where H.E. Ambassador Luca Ferrari received the brand’s bespoke ‘il-tricolore’ tyres.

His Excellency Mr Luca Ferrari was gifted a set of four specially customised P Zero Colour Edition tyres, which carry the red, white and green of the Italian flag on the inside of the tyre wall. The special tyres were fitted to the official Embassy car in Riyadh with Ambassador Ferrari becoming the seventh top-ranking Italian diplomat to receive the special gift from premium tyre leader Pirelli.

The tricolour tyres were presented during an exclusive event at the Residence of H.E. Luca Ferrari to the presence of more than one hundred guests. Ambassador Ferrari highlighted how more than  30% of the Italian export is made by machinery and automotive goods, which makes Italy Europe’s second largest exporter of machinery and second largest manufacturer in the EU. The Ambassador also underlined that the best cars in the world run on Pirelli tyres, including Formula 1 cars, and that he is proud to receive the beautiful “tricolore” tyres.

Ambassador Ferrari joins his counterparts in Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, the United States, and UAE in becoming a recipient of the tyres which are a symbol of Pirelli industry design and safety excellence stretching back more than 140 years. ‘Il-tricolore’ tyres are also on  display at Italian diplomatic offices in major global cities including Paris, Ankara, Tokyo, Mexico City, Brasilia, Buenos Aires and the “Farnesina” (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarter in Rome).

Carlos Milani, Managing Director Pirelli, Middle East said: “Saudi Arabia is one of the key markets for Pirelli and the gifting of ‘il-tricolore’ tyres to Italy’s ambassador in the kingdom aligns with our strategy to expand our presence across the Middle East.”

The tyre fitting ceremony in Riyadh was conducted by Pirelli’s mobile service van, a collaboration with United Yousef M. Naghi Co. Ltd., the official partner of Pirelli tyres in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, the United Yousef M. Naghi Co. Ltd. launched the Pirelli retail concept Pirelli Performance Centre in Jeddah, KSA, a first-of-its-kind for the GCC. The centre is designed to meet customer demands for integrated tyre maintenance and oil services and offers a female-only lounge in response to the royal decree to allow women in the kingdom to drive.

ArabNet Collaborates with Monsha’at, SAGIA, and Badir to organize largest startup event in the Kingdom

With the ambitious Vision 2030 driving Saudi Arabia to a knowledge-based economy, technology innovation and entrepreneurship have emerged as key pillars for the country’s transformation.  Against this backdrop, thousands of digital business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors will gather in Riyadh on Dec 12-13 in for the largest technology gathering to take place in the Kingdom, under the banner of “Rise of the Innovation Kingdom.”  The massive gathering will feature two events taking place simultaneously: Monsha’at Startup Saudi, for 3,000+ entrepreneurs, youth and students, organized by ArabNet; and ArabNet Riyadh for 1,000+ corporate executives and senior government leaders, held in strategic partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha’at).

The two concurrent events will bring together 150+ expert speakers from around the world, with full tracks of programming covering a range of topics.  Monsha’at Startup Saudi will feature inspirational stories and keynotes in 3 tracks: Launchpad for startups and investment, MerchantHub for e-commerce and payments, and Mediabuzz for the future of content creation and digital media; meanwhile, ArabNet Riyadh will feature more advanced discussions on digital trends in two tracks: Ad/Edge for advanced discussions in digital media and advertising, Finverse for digital banking and fintech.

Central to this event will be the collaboration between SAGIA and ArabNet to bring – from the region and beyond – 100 startups and 50 VC / tech investors in the largest tech entrepreneurship showcase to take place in the Kingdom, and encourage them to invest and establish operations in KSA.  Over all, the event will feature over 200 startups and 100 investors, with more than $1B in capital available for startups seeking investment, and will be hosted for the 7th time by King Abdulaziz City of Science Technology (KACST) and Badir Program for Technology Incubators.
