Mexican Food Festival at InterContinental Riyadh.

A week-long Mexican food festival called ‘Mexican Gastronomic Festival’ featuring mouth-watering cuisine amid a backdrop of special ambience created to showcase the culture of that North American Country, was inaugurated by Mexican Ambassador Alfredo Miranda at the InterContinental Riyadh Hotel today.

Addressing  a  press  conference  at  the  InterContinental  Hotel, Ambassador Miranda said that “the Mexican cuisine is central to the cultural identity of whole communities that practice and transmit it from generation to generation. In fact, in Mexican homes, kitchens are the place that link families and friends together.” “The Mexican cuisine attained status by UNESCO as Humanity’s ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage´ in 2010”. said the envoy, while thanking the InterContinental Hotel for hosting the Mexican Gastronomic Festival from September 17 to 22.

Ambassador Miranda said that “the guests will have an opportunity not only to taste the authentic Mexican cuisine but also to admire Mexican handicrafts, photos from a collection and enjoy live music from a Mexican Folkloric band, during the Festival.”

Tariq Dowidar, Area General Manager for IHG Government Hotels and  General  Manager  InterContinental  Riyadh,  and  Eduardo Perez, a prominent Mexican chef and TV show host, who has flown to Riyadh for preparing authentic cuisine, also addressed the press conference. A baggage full of authentic ingredients, including spices, has been brought to Riyadh, and will be used to prepare the whole range of Mexican dishes, salads and sauces.

Sony unveils new products at IFA 2018

At the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany, scheduled to begin from Friday, August 31, Sony Corporation is set to showcase an array of its latest products featuring cutting-edge technology.

At the Sony press conference held on Thursday, August 30, in advance of IFA’s official opening, Kenichiro Yoshida, President and CEO of Sony Corporation stressed that Sony will enhance both creator and user engagement as per its corporate direction to “getting closer to people.” He added, “Our electronics products play the vital role of connecting creators that produce stunning audio and visual contents with users who enjoy them.” He then stressed that “In addition to capturing ‘Reality’ through the pursuit of high-fidelity audio and high-definition video technologies, going forward, I believe it is equally important for Sony to also deliver ‘Real-time’ value. Real-time describes the concept of ‘this-moment-in-time’ or ‘live-ness.’” Following this, Ichiro Takagi, Senior Executive Vice President in charge of Home Entertainment & Sound Business stated that “Through the best images and sound possible, we want to fully convey the creator’s intent, and provide the ultimate audiovisual experience to users.” He then introduced Sony’s latest TV and audio products.

Sony unveiled WH-1000XM3, the newest addition to the 1000X series of wireless noise cancelling headphones. This new model boasts major improvements to its industry-leading Noise Cancellation technology*1 with the newly-developed HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 to deliver approximately four times greater performance. The newly-developed component can not only negate low-range noises from airplanes, but also further cancels mid to high-range noise such as street noise and human voices.

Seed Acceleration Program (SAP)

FES Watch U was born out of Sony’s Seed Acceleration Program (SAP), which creates startup projects and supports their business operations. It will be available for purchase in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and Spain from mid-September. FES Watch U is a fashion watch that uses e-paper on the watch face and wrist strap. Users can switch between their favorite designs with only the push of a button. In order to showcase the new possibilities stemming from the combination of technology and fashion, Sony will also be displaying concept shoes (prototype), with an outsole and N logo whose design can be changed. These were developed using the 247v2 shoes from New Balance.

Schneider Electric partners with Tarmeem Charity Association to bring safe energy solutions to underprivileged homes in Saudi Arabia

Schneider Electric, a leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has partnered with Tarmeem Charity Association, a Saudi non-profit association registered with the Saudi Ministry of Labour and Social Development, to build, repair and upgrade homes in underprivileged neighbourhoods in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

Schneider Electric will provide electrical equipment to repair up to 50 houses over a two-month period, the required manpower for the project and manage all the necessary house repairs. Lexus Launches the 7th generation of the all-new ES 2019 in Saudi Arabia

The ceremony was held in Riyadh, at  Lexus Center and attended by a group of Lexus loyal customers, as well as a number of  luxury cars lovers, the press and some prominent faces in social networking sites.

In this context, the chief engineer Yasuhiro Sakakibara, said:” Lexus has put a clear development target for the development of Lexus ES 2019, that is to upgrade it to all-new levels, which means the enhancement of a luxury sedan long famous for providing advanced levels of comfort and tranquility, offering interactive and more exciting driving experience that you can feel and hear it once sitting inside the car.”

Yasuhiro Sakakibara added:” With every new generation of the ES, the team works towards exceeding our customers’ needs and expectations. The all-new 2019 Lexus ES embodies our vision of developing a model that blends key elements of design and performance in a way that would deliver a higher level of enjoyment for its drivers and passengers. We knew this ES had to feel responsive and easy to drive, no matter what kind of road it was on. That can only be achieved with a solid foundation. The GA-K platform also incorporates far more structural adhesives than the previous ES platform, as well as laser screw welding – a construction method shared with the LS sedan, which is used in 120 locations throughout the GA-K platform to further solidify the already robust structure. Additional measures were used to improve front-end stiffness, including a strut tower brace, multiple reinforcement panels for the strut towers themselves, and new radiator support braces.

One of two major additions to the all-new Lexus ES lineup includes the ES 300h, an electrified hybrid model, which combines two power sources consisting of a petrol engine and two electric motors. The second addition is the all-new 2019 Lexus ES F SPORT model, which further enhances the driving excitement so that drivers can enjoy a sense of oneness with the car, born of its ability to respond immediately to driving enthusiasts’ intentions in various situations. In addition to a thrilling exterior that highlights its bold and aggressive personality, the all-new Lexus ES F SPORT features numerous upgrades such as a retuned suspension, 19-inch wheels and tires, and unique aluminum interior trim that gives the machine a more dynamic look and feel.

The introduction of the all-new 2019 Lexus ES continues the expression of the brand’s design direction and commitment towards crafting vehicles with heightened excitement, emotion, and passion, expanding that vision of the brand’s future to a broader audience.

The provocative elegance of the design starts up front with the latest iteration of the brand’s signature grille but adds individual cues that are unique to the ES such as the vertical grille pattern and satin-plated trim, adding slim headlamps with distinctive L-shaped marker lights. In profile, the ES has a dynamic yet fluid shape that starts with the low hood line that feeds into the sleek roofline. The rear of the all-new Lexus ES is clean and sharply chiseled, with distinctive three-dimensional, L-shaped LED taillamps that wrap around the quarter panels to provide a continuous styling line from any angle.

Complementing the all-new Lexus ES emotional design is a thrilling drive personality imbued by three powertrain options. The ES 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is designed to deliver commanding acceleration along with an invigorating sound. With an update to the D4-S fuel injection system, the impressively smooth engine now produces 300 hp and maximum torque of 356 nm/4700 rpm.

While the ES 250 is powered by an all-new, high-efficiency 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 204 hp and a maximum torque of 243 nm/5000 rpm. This aluminum-intensive engine features a long-stroke design, laser-clad intake valve seats and advanced Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) to achieve a new high-speed combustion process.

The two powertrains on ES 350 and ES 250 are mated to a new eight-speed direct-shift automatic transmission. This uses an ultra-thin torque converter and a multi-plate lock-up clutch to more efficiently transfer power to the front wheels, and has been tuned to deliver crisp, precisely-timed shifts with quick pedal responses.

In addition, an electrified hybrid powertrain was developed for the all-new ES. This third powertrain option combines two power sources consisting of a petrol engine producing 176 hp and a maximum torque of 221 nm/5300 rpm, and two electric motors produce 118 hp, delivering a combined system output of 214 hp. This powertrain is also mated to a new hybrid transaxle that provides the lowest fuel consumption value of 24.4km/L, and highest driving performance of this class. The Official Launch of the “Applications World” Exhibition Mid-September in Riyadh

The city of Riyadh is ready to host the “Applications World” exhibition – the first and largest of its kind in the Middle East. The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and will take place in the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center starting from the 17th till the 20th of September, 2018. The “Applications World” exhibition will contain both local and international applications under one roof to create a collaborative and networking space between investors, industry specialists and developers. Moreover, the exhibition also aims, through additional activities, to support Saudi startups and businesses through providing a platform to showcase and launch them.

Latest statistics show that 75% of Saudi citizens use social media platforms, where 63% of them prefer completing their daily tasks using latest technologies, through apps, due to its ease of use. Nevertheless, 65% of Saudi citizens believe that technology provides a safe and secure platform to conduct safe business transactions to a large extent.

The idea of such a special exhibition and a suitable platform (Applications World – in its first edition) came to life after taking these statistics into consideration, since it aims to gain participation from:
