MoU between Nahdi and ENAYAH to Launch Medical Convoys in Central Region

As part of its strategy and in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, Nahdi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Charitable Health Society for Patients Care (ENAYAH) to support the organisation’s medical convoys in the Riyadh region.

Under the MoU, several charity projects and initiatives will be implemented to provide comprehensive healthcare services for needy patients. The agreement embodies Nahdi’s desire to expand its community healthcare services under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health.

ENAYAH Chairman, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Swailem, and Nahdi CEO, engineer Yasser Joharji, signed the MoU.

Commenting on the agreement, Joharji said: “Nahdi seeks to reach the largest number of people, particularly diabetics, to promote awareness and provide health education services through its successful programme ‘Ya Ana Yal Sukkary’, which was launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Joslin Diabetes Centre. The MoU with ENAYAH serves that purpose.”

He added: “At Nahdi, we are guided by Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, including plans to expand healthcare services to all segments of the society. Our strategy has come a long way to fulfil our goal of becoming a community pharmacy.”

For his part, Swailem expressed his delight at the signing of the MoU, which serves poor and needy patients by dispensing medication through ENAYAH convoys touring the Riyadh region. “We are happy to partner with Nahdi, which has succeeded in raising awareness on health issues in the country. Under the agreement, we will work together in serving the community and ensuring its welfare, to ultimately help achieve Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”

ENAYA and Nahdi agreed to cooperate to implement healthcare initiatives and support ENAYAH medical convoys. Services include diabetes early detection tests as well as medication worth SAR 45,000 for three convoys. Medicines will be dispensed free of charge, while each convoy will be accompanied by a pharmacist and diabetes educator. In cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Joslin Diabetes Centre, patients will receive free services as well as diabetes education by well-qualified pharmacists. Also, a diabetes expert will be assigned to ENAYAH’s medical complex to help patients.

FIRST EDITION OF SHOP QATAR TO CELEBRATE SHOPPING, ENTERTAINMENT AND HOSPITALITY

Under the slogan ‘A Brand New Tradition’, the first edition of Shop Qatar will kick-off in January with discounts on popular brands, cash prizes worth up to QAR 4 million, special offers on flights and hotel bookings, and a colourful schedule of entertainment featuring Cats the Broadway musical, live music concerts and 15 stand-up comedy acts.

The festival, which will be held from 7 January to 7 February 2017, was announced today by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and festival partners including, Mall of Qatar, Qatar Airways and Ezdan World.

Retail outlets around the country will be providing discounts of up to 50% on a range of consumer goods including clothes, electronics, cosmetics and accessories for men, women and children. In addition to Mall of Qatar, which opened last week to become the largest shopping and entertainment hub in the nation, participating malls include Ezdan Mall, Hyatt Plaza, AlKhor Mall, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark, Dar Al Salam Mall, The Gate and The Pearl-Qatar.

Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at QTA, explained why the time is ripe for Qatar to host this festival. “Qatar enjoys a diverse retail sector, offering everything from luxury malls and high-end shopping promenades to entertainment-rich shopping centres, as well as authentic souqs and bazaars. Shop Qatar will shed light on this rich offering and celebrate it with Qatar’s residents and visitors.”

He added, “Based on the increases in visitor arrivals during the months that have coincided with other tourism festivals, we anticipate that a festival during the winter months has an even bigger chance of attracting visitors, due to the offering combined with Qatar’s great winter weather. Shop Qatar is also timed to fall within mid-year holidays for potential visitors in neighbouring countries, which are our largest source markets.”

In a move by QTA to support local entrepreneurs, Shop Qatar will also feature local products designed by students of Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar and other local designers, which will be displayed in a variety of pop-up stores throughout the participating malls. In addition, visitors can benefit from experts on the latest fashion and make-up trends through make-up tutorials which will be offered throughout the period of the festival and a fashion show during the final week.

Ahmad Al Mulla, Mall of Qatar CEO said, “The launch of Shop Qatar marks a new age in retail in Qatar. At Mall of Qatar, we are aligned with the efforts of Qatar Tourism Authority in bringing new streams of economic development and diversity to our country. At the same time we aim to change the paradigm of shopping centers in our region by bringing the first retailtainment shopping experience to Qatar.”

Enticing Travel and Accommodation Offers

To offer tourists the chance to conveniently travel, stay and shop in Qatar, QTA has partnered with Qatar Airways and popular hotel booking platforms to offer discounted air travel and tourist accommodation packages. Any flights to Qatar from within the GCC region booked on Qatar Airways for the period between 7 January and 7 February will be available with a 25% discount. In addition, members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club will receive double Q-miles on their booking during Shop Qatar.

Visitors to Shop Qatar can also take advantage of a range of accommodation offers at Qatar’s globally-recognised hospitality sector, when booking through Expedia.com and Booking.com.

Lively Entertainment for The Whole Family

Organisers also confirmed that Shop Qatar will offer a rich array of live cultural shows, performances by singing sensations and unlimited family-friendly entertainment in a festive, safe environment that reflects local culture and heritage.

Cats, the longest-running show on Broadway, will show from the 1st to the 4th of February 2017 at Qatar National Convention Centre. Tickets for the musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber will be available for purchase at Virgin Megastores outlets, starting at QAR 150 per ticket.

Two concerts which will feature Arab and Khaliji singers will take place on 20th January 2017 and 27th January 2017 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. Tickets will go on sale at all Virgin Megastores outlets and will range in price from QAR 120 to QAR 1,250.

The Doha Comedy Festival will be returning with an extensive line up of Khaliji, Arab, and international comedians, who will entertain audiences over a three-day fiesta of stand-up and humorous storytelling from 2nd to 4th February 2017 at Qatar National Convention Centre. Tickets will be on sale at all Virgin Megastores outlets with ticket prices ranging from QAR 120- QAR 1000.

Participating retail partners will also host exclusive in-mall entertainment and roaming mall shows, with fun for the whole family.

Outdoor Fun Fair

And, to capitalise on Qatar’s splendid winter weather, Shop Qatar has partnered with Ezdan World to offer a fun fair to visitors at the Magical Festival Village, which will be held beside Katara Cultural Village this winter. The Village houses over 400 shopping outlets, dozens of cafes and restaurants, bordered by public seating areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the ambience and lovely climate.

Chances to win cash prizes worth up to QAR 4,000,000

Shoppers who spend QAR 200 at any of the participating retailers can enter a weekly raffle draw at Mall of Qatar for a chance to win cash prizes worth up to QAR 4 million. Draws will be held on the first three Fridays of the Festival (13th, 20th, 27th of January), with 15 cash prizes ranging from QAR 10,000 to QAR 300,000 to be won each week.

The draws will culminate in a mega-draw on the final day of Shop Qatar (7th February 2017) where a jackpot prize of QAR 1,000,000 will be up for grabs, in addition to 14 other cash prizes ranging from QAR 20,000 to QAR 120,000.

Abu Dhabi draws in huge crowds for festive New Year celebrations

Abu Dhabi enjoyed an extremely busy New Year’s period with the emirate’s diverse programme of multiple leisure activities, hotel and dining promotions, music concerts, cultural festivals and entertainment events that were held during December, proving extremely popular with both residents and visitors.

As 2016 came to an end, and the emirate welcoming in the New Year, the city’s packed calendar of activations and concerts made sure that many of Abu Dhabi’s top-tier hotels were running at 100 per cent occupancy levels, with many more hotels close to full capacity.

Establishments enjoying full capacity over the New Year period included the Beach Rotana, Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche and Intercontinental Abu Dhabi.

December is historically one of the busiest periods for Abu Dhabi’s hotels and attractions, with the sheer diversity of top-tier events and entertainments on offer in Abu Dhabi to celebrate New Year, contributing to a boost in visitor numbers to the emirate during this period. Visitor numbers re-emphasised Abu Dhabi’s status as a world-class destination, which continues to forge a reputation on the international stage.

Guests checking in to the emirate’s hotels from January until November 2016 showed an increase of 8 per cent compared with 2015, with the total number of guest arrivals at 4,022,918. The New Year events which offered residents and visitors to the emirate a rich diversity of tourism, leisure and cultural experiences for the enjoyment of the entire family proved to be so popular, with figures reported during the festive season poised to further increase the recorded numbers of visitors to the emirate in 2016.

Events such as the New Year’s Eve concert by world-famous rock band Coldplay at du Arena on Abu Dhabi’s ‘entertainment hub’ of Yas Island helped boost visitor numbers, with 30,000 people packed into the venue to enjoy famous songs by the band including ‘Fix You’ and ‘Clocks’.

Many more people flocked to the city to enjoy alternative musical events, such as a concert at the waterfront promenade on Al Maryah Island by Emirati star Hussain Al Jasmi, Egyptian pop icon Mohammad Hamaki, and Palestinian singing sensation Mohammad Assaf.

Yas Island’s “Winterland Carnival” which was held at the du Forum welcomed more than 26,000 people who enjoyed the activities at this unique winter-themed event, which featured exciting rides, games, performers, as well as an array of food trucks.

Spectacular fireworks displays also delighted the huge crowds, with pyrotechnic events held at several locations across the emirate. Visitors and residents alike celebrated the start of the New Year whilst watching spectacular sky-high shows at Al Maryah Island Promenade, Khor Al Maqtaa and the famous Emirates Palace hotel – with rapturous crowds packing the capital’s iconic Corniche in order to watch.

There were also a multitude of winter-themed festivals at several locations, as well as cultural events such as the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, which all proved to be extremely popular with visitors.

Gathering more than 65,000 car enthusiasts RIYADH MOTOR SHOW sets a new benchmark in the automotive exhibition industry

Embassy of Japan Celebrated National Day

H.E. Mr. Norihiro Okuda, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hosted the National Day Reception of Japan to celebrate 83rd birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, Akihito. Many Saudi government officials and guests from different sectors as well as representatives from diplomatic corps attended the reception held at Ambassador’s residence. H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Governor of Riyadh attended the reception representing the government of Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Okuda mentioned: “it is my great honor to host this event celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the birthday for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Since the very moment of his accession to the Emperor, His Majesty has always been encouraging Japanese people, cheering them up and inspiring them for 28 years through thick and thin. Especially when our country suffers from natural disasters such as earthquakes, His Majesty has always been there to give consolation to the suffering people, and we may have taken it for granted.”,  

He also referred to the very cordial relationship between the two monarchs, expressing gratitude to the sincere condolence for the recent demise of His Highness Mikasanomiya, the younger brother or the late Emperor Showa. This year, HRH Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Japan and had audience with the Emperor and Crown Prince and the symbolic picture expressing the historical relationship went viral in social media world wide,   

Every year the Embassy of Japan shows various cultural exhibitions to introduce modern and traditional Japanese culture on the occasion of National Day. This year, in the light of the flourishing economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, Japanese cutting-edge technology for next generation of entertainment came under the spotlight: Japanese Company Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. demonstrated its virtual reality system “Toppan VR” and attendees enjoyed a virtual world of an old Japanese cultural heritage with high definition computer graphics.

The Riyadh Motor Show kicked off today, Tuesday 29 November 2016, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibitions Center. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport, the show was inaugurated by Eng. Hathlool AL Hathloul, Deputy Minister of transport and Roads and will continue for 4 days.

The 30th edition of the Riyadh Motor Show, is witnessing several “new model launches” for the biggest automotive companies in the region and exclusively highlights the reveal of more than 10 model cars displayed for the first time ever, exhibiting the latest technological advancements recorded in the automotive industry.
