Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, February 2013– A new Asian dining destination has opened in the heart of Riyadh, with the official debut of Hong fine dining restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh.
The sixth addition to the hotel’s unique collection of world-class restaurants, Hong offers a contemporary take on traditional Chinese cuisine, with an exciting menu that celebrates The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Led by Chef de Cuisine and Asian culinary specialist Danny Khoo Teng Jin, Hong’s menu draws on classic Chinese flavours and ingredients, but gives them a modern twist with artistic presentation and flavour combinations. In addition to firm favourites such as Szechuan Hot and Sour Soup and Peking Duck, the menu also features a selection of dishes that use distinctively Chinese ingredients such as abalone and ginseng.
“It’s all about delivering an authentic flavour of the Orient from something as simple as a basket of steamed dumplings to our signature Kong Po Lobster dish or the pairing of Soft-Shell crab with Crispy Calamari. Hong elevates Chinese dining to an entirely new level,” said Mickael Chevalier the hotel’s Executive Assistant Manager Food & Beverage.
Chef Danny has personally sourced a store cupboard of unique ingredients including lotus seed, sun-dried mandarin orange peel and special Chinese herbs, each of which is designed to enhance Hong’s culinary repertoire and add a unique depth of flavour to every dish.
Hong, which translates from Chinese Mandarin as ‘red’, offers a traditional dining experience in a contemporary setting that blends refined opulence with a rich colour palette and exquisite attention to detail throughout, from hand-painted calligraphy panels to the raw silk upholstery and subtle mood lighting. Hong’s unique menu and stunning setting will attract the city’s most discerning gourmets and lovers of Asian fine dining.
With seating for just 60 diners and open six days a week from 7pm until midnight, the restaurant is the perfect venue for celebratory gatherings or intimate dining, offering traditional family style service.
