GREAT PLACE TO WORK® KSA concluded the registration process for the 2017 “Great Workplaces List Saudi Arabia 2017”, which results will be announced by December 20th, 2017.

Mr. Ziad Ghosn, Managing Director of Great Place to Work® Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, explained that the list witnessed strong participation from various governmental and private entities and companies that wanted to sign up for the 2017 list.

Investment in the human resources is one of the most important objectives for the Kingdom’s Vision in 2030, that considers the human capital as the “wealth of the Kingdom”. This attention was reflected on the organizations who recognized the importance of investing in human resources being a crucial factor in achieving sustainable human development that drives growth and development in nations.

Mr. Ziad Ghosn added that: “Registrations and nominations were concluded on October 22nd, 2017, and the evaluation process kicked off. GREAT PLACE TO WORK® follows a systematic methodology that measures the characteristics of the workplace according to the Trust Index©, and the Culture Audit© of establishments based on a customized survey.”

The “Great Workplaces List” that will be released in Saudi Arabia, is also recognized in over 30 countries around the world, and is the only source of the “Fortune 100”, the world’s most famous list that determines the top of 100 companies in the world.

The Trust Index©, developed by GREAT PLACE TO WORK®, is measured through the surveys that assess the workplace culture by measuring the levels of both trust and engagement in the organization followed by auditing the workplace culture. Organizations that score a high level in the index will be able to join Saudi Arabia’s prestigious “Great Workplaces List 2017”.

Mr. Ghosn concluded that: “We are witnessing great support and interest in developing the work environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially with the” National Companies Promotion program”. This program aims to incentivize more than 100 promising national companies, and help them strengthen and solidify their position regionally and globally, which will positively reflect on Saudi Arabia’s image and its economic strength.”

TOURISM INDONESIA TARGETS MIDDLE EAST ON SALES MISSIONS IN DAMMAM, RIYADH AND JEDDAH.

JAKARTA – The visit of King Salman bin Abdulazis Al Saud of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia in March 2017 has inspired Middle East tourists to spend their summer long stay family vacation. “King Salman Route” indulged tourists with premium standard services and facilities.

To further promote Indonesia world class wonders and its premium properties, Indonesian Ministry of Tourism conducted sales mission series on 22 to 25 of October 2017 in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Seven tourism industry have met with hundreds of travel experts and advisors in three cities, Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah. This event was an important hub for networking and business transactions between the tourism industry from Indonesia and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the event, Nia Niscaya, Director of International Promotion in Europe, Middle East, America and Africa Region, Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia, highlighted main topics that include Indonesia ambitious goals to reach 20 million international arrivals by 2019, 10 Beyond Bali destinations, simplified regulations for tourists, awards, and plans for 2018.

From information technologies perspective, Indonesia has established a Go Digital strategy by developing a digital market place called TXI, stands for Tourism Exchange Indonesia that can be accessed through www.indonesia.travel website. Currently, there have been 5 thousand Indonesian suppliers registered at TXI, enabling netizens to book Indonesia travel packages, accommodation, quicker and more efficient.

In 2017, Indonesia has been developing 20,000 tourism village homestays built primarily in the ten priority destinations as a part of an elaborate program with the aim of ultimately developing a 100,000 homestays by 2019. The goal is to maximize benefits to local communities and diversify product offerings to visitors.

Indonesia continues refining its air connectivity by what they call the “3A Collaboration:  Airlines, Airports, and Air Navigation”. This strategic plan aims to increase the number of airlines flying to Indonesia, the destinations they fly to, and their schedule frequency. Indonesia also has been improving many existing airports and building new ones. They are also using sophisticated air traffic control and navigation to maximize use of air corridors and airspace throughout the Indonesian archipelago.

Nia Niscaya also shared Indonesia commitment to ready itself for the 18th edition of Asian Games, an important regional multi-sports event in Asia that will be co hosted in two Indonesian cities, Jakarta and Palembang, from August 18 – September 2, 2018. Approximately 462 events of 40 sports and disciplines will be featured in the Games.

She concluded that Indonesia is targeting 15 million visitors by the end of 2017. From January to August 2017 the number of international tourists coming to Indonesia had increased 25.68 %, from 7.35 million in 2016 to 9.24 million visitors in 2017. The room occupancy rate of star hotels in 27 provinces in January to August 2017 had reached an average of 54.59%, a 1.85 points increase compared to 52.74% in 2016. Despite of 2,53% decline on the Middle Eastern tourists visiting Indonesia from January to August 2017 compared to previous year with 172.653 visitors, Indonesia remained in full gear with its sales missions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end this year record with a better figure.

Millions of Riyals agricultural deals signed. Saudi Agriculture Exhibition wraps up this year’s Edition with almost 12 thousand visitors

Saudi Agriculture Exhibition, the UFI accredited show Organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company, 2017 was concluded last Wednesday, with almost 12 thousand visitors during 4 days.

More than 45 deals were signed during the exhibition that was held in concurrence with the “SAUDI AGROFOOD” – and “Saudi Food-Pack “, at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center.

Visitors were extremely satisfied with the diversity of participants during the exhibition where more than 350 global and local exhibitors from 29 countries took part in the exhibition this year, in addition to the 9 international pavilions including: Egypt, United Arab Emirates, China, Czech Republic, , Greece, India, Poland, Holland and Turkey.

Participating companies considered Saudi Agriculture Exhibition the perfect platform for exchanging experience with other participants and showcasing the latest innovations in agriculture, irrigation and packaging. The interest and focus that the Government has for the agricultural sector was also highlighted during this show, through the facilities the ministry granted for farmers and the sponsorship and support it provided for the exhibition.

Mr. Khalid Alamdar, Director of Sales and Marketing at Riyadh Exhibition Company Ltd. explained that this exhibition provided participating parties with the perfect platform to develop their businesses, and benefit from the latest agriculture techniques that were displayed during the show. Under the Patronage of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs Mayor of Riyadh Region inaugurates Saudi Build Expo 2017

Under the Patronage of the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Eng. Abdullatif bin Abdulmalik Al Shaikh, the 29th edition of Saudi Build exhibition, the largest construction show in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was inaugurated by Mayor of Riyadh Region, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, on Monday 23rd of October 2017 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center in Riyadh.

Saudi Build Expo, will be held in line with the Saudi Stone-Tech 2017 and the International Exhibition for Construction Equipment, Plant, Machinery and Vehicles, during the period from 23-26 October 2017.

Mr. Mohammed H. Al-Hussaini, Executive Consultant, Riyadh Exhibition Company, valued the support of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs which is maintaining the growth and development of these specialized trade shows and attracting local, regional and international exhibitors to showcase the latest trends and technologies.

The show offers the specialized audience of contractors, real estate developers and business owners, latest innovations in building materials, techniques and equipment used. A recent study revealed that the Saudi construction sector accounts for 39% of the GCC Construction sectors combined; contributes 6-7% to the GDP, and is valued at around SR 350 billion Riyals, with assets worth SR 53.3 billion. This sector employs 300 thousand Saudis, among which are 35 thousand Saudi Engineers

The study also revealed that the sector includes 243,000 contracting companies, representing 27% of all registered companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; among which are 173,000 small companies and enterprises, 54,000 small companies, 14,000 Medium companies and 242 major companies.

According to this study, the Kingdom has spent over SR 4 trillion on construction projects in the past 10 years which confirms the importance of Saudi Build Expo, the largest and the only UFI accredited construction exhibition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abu Dhabi Cruise Sector embarks upon a Regional Trade Roadshow Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will promote the Emirate’s cruise market sector in KSA and Kuwait

Abu Dhabi’s cruise tourism sector, led by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi , is continuing its series of international promotions and conventions ahead of the start of the 2017/18 cruise season with a four-city regional travel trade roadshow in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait from 8 – 12 October 2017.  

Showcasing the Emirate’s distinct cruise offering, the roadshow is being staged to drive growth in GCC bookings for Arabian Gulf cruises and will see the Department of Culture and Tourism attend the annual GCC travel industry roadshow which run from 8 – 12 October, calling at Jeddah, Riyadh and the eastern province of Saudi Arabia, together with a visit to Kuwait.

The roadshow, alongside Abu Dhabi’s recent delegation in the Cruise Arabia pavilion at the Seatrade Europe exhibition in Germany, are part of Abu Dhabi’s strategy to promote cruise tourism in the Arabian Gulf region through direct contact with cruise lines and companies, and operators of cruise tours and programmes.

“By embarking upon this regional roadshow, we aim to highlight the diverse cruise tourism options available to our neighbours in the Arabian Gulf. The three cruise lines originating from Abu Dhabi provide world class tourism facilities and access to the vast array of leisure opportunities and immersive experiences at every stop,” said Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

The regional trade mission is one of a number of international promotions planned for the coming months with roadshows in Russia and India also on the calendar before the end of the year to help drive the sector’s growth.

“The 2016/2017 cruise season was record breaking for the industry in Abu Dhabi and by engaging directly with our trade contacts throughout the region and internationally, we expect that the season ahead will see increased numbers of passengers embarking upon cruises from Abu Dhabi’s state of the art cruise terminal,” added Al Dhaheri.

With the cruise sector identified as an emerging niche, a cruise development committee established by Abu Dhabi’s General Secretariat of the Executive Council under the chairmanship of HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Department of Culture & Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has implemented a cruise charter to steer the future course of the cruise tourism industry. Abu Dhabi’s growth ambitions have been accelerated by the partnership between the Department of Culture and Tourism, Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Ports.

Hareb Al Muhairy, Etihad Airways Senior Vice President Sales, UAE & GCC, said: “We are delighted to promote Abu Dhabi’s cruise tourism sector, alongside our partners in the Department of Culture and Tourism, at the regional travel trade roadshows in Jeddah, Riyadh and Kuwait. Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a world class tourism destination continues to grow, and we are proud to carry greater numbers of air travellers into Abu Dhabi, who then connect onto cruise liners bound for the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf.”

For the coming cruise season, Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal is forecast to welcome 129 ship calls from 18 different cruise lines, making the emirate a firm fixture on the world cruise map and continuing to base their regional Arabian Gulf operations at the terminal.

In the presence of the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Saudi Agriculture 2017 kicks off, with the participation of 29 countries

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al Mushaiti, inaugurated the 36th edition of the Saudi Agriculture exhibition 2017.  Organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company Ltd., the exhibition kicked off on October 08 and will continue until October 11, in concurrence with the Saudi AgroFood and the Saudi Food Pack Exhibitions, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.

On this occasion, Eng. Al- Mushaiti said that the Saudi Agriculture Exhibition offers a perfect opportunity to reinforce communication between Government agencies and entities operating in the agricultural and food sector.  It also enables the exchange of experience between the participating parties and showcases the latest innovations in agriculture, irrigation and packaging. H.E. also explained that the strategic orientations of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture that focuses on the sustainable development of the agricultural sector to achieve water and food security.

He also shed the light on the incentives and loans offered by the Agricultural Development Fund, and the recent increase in loans for the modern technology by 50-70%, which plays a major role in achieving the strategic agricultural goals, and eventually achieving 2030 vision.

H.E. added that under the leadership of the custodian of the two holy mosques, the government has been giving a lot of attention to the agriculture sector, and so far more than 50 billion SAR worth of loans have been pumped into the market, contributing to the improvement of this sector. He also pointed out the fact that the ministry has been working very hard to improve and develop areas that have a positive impact on the farmers and the food security of the Kingdom.‎.

The Saudi Agriculture Exhibition 2017 coincides with the year of the vital development of the agricultural sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in line with the latest trends in the market, such as: the shift towards using compound fodder in the poultry industry instead of green and traditional feed, the inclinations towards investing in aquaculture and greenhouses, and the ultimate goal of achieving food security ; all of which comply with the Kingdom’s vision 2030, and the national strategy to develop the Fisheries Sector that is deemed to become a contributing sector to the Saudi economy.

Qudwa 2017: Andreas Schleicher Closes Annual Forum with Powerful Message to Inspire Teachers from around the World

Andreas Schleicher, Director for the Directorate of Education and Skills, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), headlined the closing plenary session of the Qudwa 2017 Global Teachers’ Forum held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on 7 and 8 October, 2017.

His remarks inspired over 900 teachers from more than 80 countries to employ the various teaching and learning methods they learned into their classrooms.

A noted and highly-respected statistician and researcher in the field of education, Schleicher closed the forum, with a summary of key highlights of the diverse sessions.

Schleicher’s remarks included advice and words of encouragement to teachers – particularly young teachers and those working in challenging environments.

He said: “What teachers know and care about makes such a difference in a student’s development.” Emphasising the value that is added to a learning environment when teachers are dedicated, Schleicher shared with the audience his experience of working with educators to identify the impact of policy changes related to teacher pay, extended educational time, and professional development and changes in educational performance.

Andreas Schleicher is Director for Education and Skills, and Special Advisor on Education Policy to the Secretary-General at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Schleicher supports the Secretary-General’s strategy to produce analysis and policy advice that advances economic growth and social progress.

Throughout this closing session, Andreas Schleicher referenced several of the presenters and speakers from their respective sessions. He was particularly impressed with Julia Gillard’s commitment to reforming education in the world’s poorest countries through the Global Partnership for Education.

He also commented on Daniel Lerner’s talk that focused on investing in increasing positive emotions in the classroom.

Schleicher then praised the innovative and new-aged approach to teaching led by Ron Clark that focused on his interest in harmonious education.

Finally, he thanked the UAE leadership for its long-standing support to teachers and its priority to education, to improve standards and produce better results across the board.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Qudwa 2017 concluded today at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Under the theme ‘Teaching for Tomorrow’, the forum convened more than 900 education professionals from 80 countries to discuss the latest global trends in empowering teachers and inspiring students.
