Ferrum Crescent Limited, the ASX, AIM and JSE quoted iron ore developer, today announces it has signed a legally binding letter of intent (“Agreement”) with Anvwar Asian Investment (“AAI”) to facilitate the completion of the Company’s bankable feasibility study (“BFS”) at the Moonlight Iron Ore Project in Northern South Africa. Under the Agreement, AAI will pay US$10m to Ferrum Crescent in return for a 35% interest in the Moonlight Project and will also contribute US$3.5m to the on-going costs of the BFS. The Agreement is subject to certain conditions regarding confirmation due diligence and the receipt of applicable regulatory approvals.

AAI is an Oman based investment Company chaired by Mr Anvwar Al Balushi, who will be invited to join the Ferrum Iron Ore board and Moonlight Project steering committee upon completion of the agreement. The Moonlight Project provides AAI with potential exposure to an iron ore project capable of producing high-grade pellet product, located within 200km of established rail hubs. Ferrum Crescent has already undertaken extensive metallurgical testwork as part of the Moonlight BFS and earlier this year appointed DANIELI C. Officine MeccanicheS. p.A. AAI was introduced to the Company by Dubai-based Naru Capital (which is part of the Naseba Group).  Naru Capital is a capital introduction, deal facilitator in the emerging/growth markets, and a Director of that group played a pivotal role in bringing the parties together.

Commenting today Ed Nealon, Chairman, of Ferrum Crescent said: “AAI is an important strategic partner for Ferrum Crescent as we look to move the Moonlight Iron Ore Project towards construction. Moonlight is a very unique project with metallurgy that shows a very high grade iron product can be produced and shipped using existing infrastructure.”

Employee missteps among top causes of data theft

Employee error is one of the main causes of internal IT security incidents which lead to the leakage of confidential corporate data, according to the findings of the Global Corporate IT Security Risks 2013 survey conducted by B2B International in collaboration with Kaspersky Lab in 2013.

Although vulnerabilities in software used by company staff in their daily duties is one of the top reasons behind internal IT security incidents (with 39% of companies reporting this issue), the volume of different types of incidents taking place due to staff errors is equally high. Four out of five types of internal IT security incidents that took place at companies were closely related to erroneous employee actions.

Approximately 32% of respondents reported leaks that took place as a result of employee mistakes. A slightly lower number of companies — 30% — reported incidents involving the loss or theft of mobile devices at the fault of an employee. Intentional leaks were committed by employees at 19% of the companies participating in the survey. Incidents were caused by incorrect use of mobile devices (via mobile email clients or text messaging) at 18% of the companies surveyed.

At the same time, an average of 7% of respondents reported that employee actions were the cause of leakages of critically confidential information pertaining to company operations. Most often, leakages of critically sensitive data occurred when employees were at fault over the loss or theft of mobile devices — 9% of respondents reported these types of incidents.

A comprehensive approach to a complex problem

These types of incidents can be eliminated – or at least the risk can be minimized – by taking a set of measures, including educating employees about IT threats, and developing, putting into place, and overseeing the enforcement of appropriate security policies within the company. Another key step is the use of specialized security solutions, such as Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business.

As a top-quality security platform, this Kaspersky Lab product includes a component that protects both desktop computers and mobile devices, and also offers the ability to effectively manage them.

The possibilities offered by this platform provide not only a top level of security for a corporation’s IT infrastructure, it will also help enforce a company’s IT security policies, and even compensate for them in the event that no such policies are in place.

10 Oreo Tips to bring out the Kid inside you!

As hours, days, and years passes; having fun is not an option in people’s calendar anymore. Do you remember what it was like to be a kid, running around without a care in the world? Or the time when all what matters was a football game, or a Barbie tea party, or getting ice cream? Well, stop remembering because Oreo will take you back in time with 10 tips to bring out the kid inside you.

What’s the purpose of bringing out your inner child?  Well, it to help you get to a happier, more relaxed place. Many of our problems are due to the child spirit that lives inside us – our early experiences that shaped our attitudes. The main difference between children and adults is the amount of experience that they’ve had. Children need to live their childhood age in all aspects. And so does the child in us.  People should place worries, doubts, judgments, and egos aside, and live a true moment with themselves.

Here are some Oreo suggestions to help you enjoy simple pleasures of life. So set the child in you free!

  • Take some time each day to do something that makes your heart smile so deeply. Dance in the rain, finger paint, or a football game in the neighborhood.
  • Buy yourself your favorite cartoon character costume, invite your friends for a costume party and be the childhood hero you always wanted to be!
  • Get your favorite cartoon DVD and watch it with your kids, imitate the character as you used to do when you are kid and set yourself free.
  • Share more time with your kids… why not do the Oreo ritual of Lick, Twist and Dunk with them?
  • Disconnect yourself from technology! No phones, no internet, no play station, no computer. Enjoy childhood fun with a game of Lego, monopoly, or hide & seek. Remember at your time, there was no Facebook or iPads.
  • Healthy food and calories obsession? Well, take a day off and have another pack of biscuits, cotton candy or an ice cream and then run like a kid pretending to burn those calories!
  • Convert your daily chores to something fun. Put your rules and disciplined actions aside for a moment, and challenge yourself!
  • Lend a helping hand and give yourself credit- save that kitten from the tree, help that lady cross the road or share a moment with the less fortunate!
  • Treat yourself with a holiday, you can never be too busy for family so grab your bags and get out there!
  • Give tomorrow a chance and allow yourself to dream.

While seeking your inner child again, you will eventually have to return to responsibilities, but come back with new happy childhood memories. Keep in mind that you can always go back in time & live happy moments of the past, in order to be able to live a happier present with yourself and your loved ones!

Full Story:

Today, joined by EMC partners and customers, EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC) kicked off a 24-hour, around-the-world live launch announcing new technologies that give IT infrastructure teams the speed they need to lead their IT Transformation. At this event EMC announced that the EMC ViPR Software-Defined Storage Platform, a critical enabler to speeding this transformation, will be available later this month.

Using ViPR, customers can manage both their existing storage infrastructure (using the ViPR Controller) and the data residing within it (using ViPR Data Services), enabling them to help drive improvements in automation and lay down a modern storage architecture for future application deployments. ViPR-supported storage includes the new EMC VNX unified storage platform as well existing EMC VNX, EMC VMAX®, EMC VPLEX®, EMC Isilon®, EMC RecoverPoint® and third-party arrays including NetApp storage. ViPR provides the foundation for building Web-scale data centers without the need to hire thousands of technical experts to create a custom environment.

Upon general availability, ViPR will deliver Object Data Services—a capability that sets ViPR apart from other solutions on the market. ViPR Object Data Services offer support for multiple standard APIs including Amazon S3, OpenStack Swift and Atmos in addition to giving customers the ability to view objects as files, providing near-file access performance without the latency inherent in current object storage models. ViPR Object Data Services are engineered to be deployed on any ViPR-supported file storage including the new EMC VNX unified storage platform as well existing EMC VNX, EMC Isilon® and third-party arrays including NetApp storage.

Future updates will be designed to add support for additional third-party arrays as well as commodity hardware. EMC also plans to provide a broader set of data services as part of the ViPR platform, including an HDFS Data Service which will enable customers to perform in-place Hadoop analytics across their entire heterogeneous storage environment.

This strategy of broad platform support and open extensibility means that customers can benefit from simplified management of their entire storage infrastructure with the freedom to choose the underlying platforms that are most appropriate for their particular workloads.

In addition, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2013, EMC Global Services plans to offer a new Software Defined Storage (SDS) Workshop that is the ideal starting point for EMC customers to implement VIPR for their IT environment. The half-day on-site workshop helps customers to identify their specific storage management, control, and automation needs to best maximize the ViPR platform. The workshop evaluates a customer’s application and storage environment and designs the optimum storage service catalog and service classification.  A detailed roadmap provides a gap analysis between current state and future state using ViPR.

Analyst Quote

Laura DuBois, Program Vice President, Storage at IDC

“ViPR simplifies a very complex problem—the management of heterogeneous storage environments while extending the functionality of existing storage arrays is truly powerful. There’s a macro trend in IT right now toward self-service, and ViPR is a first important step in making this real—and easy.”

EMC Executive Quote

Amitabh Srivastava, President, Advanced Software Division at EMC

“Today is a significant milestone in EMC’s vision to deliver customers—both large enterprises and service providers—the foundation on which to build a Web-scale data center capable of growing to tens and hundreds of petabytes of information. By delivering ViPR ahead of industry expectations, we will provide our customers with a lightweight, software-only approach to storage management that not only solves the problems they face today, but provides a path to the future.”
